Breguet numerals as well as dials were used by many high-class Swiss watch brands in the past. The most beautiful type is the upright index, where each numeral is embedded into tiny holes on the dial.
These are extremely small parts, but have flat and stylishly edged
numerals. This style, unfortunately, cannot be used in watches today
because they are mass-produced on the press, and the corner of the numerals
become rounded during the process of buffing so as to carefully deburr
the cut sheet with file, and applying the finishing touches. |
