The case of this watch was carved out of solid silver so as to recreate the atmosphere of the days in which the model watch was used. To make the most of the unique material, Shellman performed hairline finish on the case. It is actually difficult to do a hairline finish on the sophisticated and delicate curves of the dial, so skilled craftsmen are required.
After the hairline finish, Shellman's artisans carry out the following
process: coating with platinum, forming a solid gold layer and palladium
layer on a silver base, and finishing with final platinum coating in
5µ thickness. |
